1. How do you expect the global energy crisis to affect the summer season in Bulgaria but also in Europe?
  • The energy crisis will affect European countries in very different ways. In our industry, particularly regarding kerosene consumption, the impact will depend on how dependent each country is on Persian Gulf oil supplies.

Most airlines currently have enough kerosene reserves to operate throughout the season. Some companies have reduced short-distance flights in order to preserve fuel for medium- and long-haul operations.

Most of our clients travel through tour operators (TTOs), and at the moment they are not experiencing any issues with kerosene supply for the coming months. Therefore, we do not expect the energy crisis to have any direct impact on our business.

Some companies are increasing prices as a precaution against possible future fuel shortages. However, this is expected to affect mainly our direct customers, who currently represent only a small portion of our client base.

  1. Do you believe Bulgaria will be among the less affected markets?
  • We do not see any major impact on Bulgaria’s hospitality industry as a result of the global energy crisis.

There is no doubt that many Western Europeans are currently hesitant to travel east this summer. However, this reaction appears to be driven more by emotions and uncertainty.

We believe that, as the season progresses, customers will quickly realize that there is nothing to worry about in traveling to this region, and tourism demand will increase significantly.

  1. Do you expect a good season specifically for our seaside hotels?
  • This season is developing quite differently compared to previous years. We have increased our rates in order to mitigate the impact of inflation and protect the company’s profitability.

There has been lower traffic to the Black Sea coast in May; however, we are seeing a considerable increase in demand for the rest of the season.

Customers are gradually gaining confidence, and we expect booking activity to stabilize in the coming months. Overall, we anticipate a slightly better season than last year, with fewer customers but higher average rates.

  1. What do the clients like about us/what makes us unique and special?
  • The Bulgarian Black Sea coast captures everything people imagine in a perfect summer vacation: beautiful sandy beaches, clear water, warm sunny days, and countless activities by the sea.

Bulgaria still holds a competitive advantage with its affordable prices compared to many traditional summer destinations. At the same time, one of its greatest strengths is its unspoiled nature. Large parts of the coastline remain untouched, and the unique combination of mountains and seaside landscapes makes Bulgaria the true Riviera of the Black Sea.

Bulgaria also offers excellent weather conditions and modern facilities for sports and outdoor activities, attracting a growing number of active travelers throughout the year. From cycling and hiking to water sports and winter sports, events and activities take place across the country in every season.

Giro d’Italia’s decision to host the first three stages of its race in Bulgaria reflects the country’s growing reputation as an international destination for sports and tourism.
